FITBALL

New in May 2009, this beginner class is designed to improve your core strength and stability. Most of us tend to ignore our core muscle group and the result is back problems and poor posture. Using a variety of fixed positions, exercises and stretches over the ball, you will be able to target that all-important core and in a matter of weeks should start to feel the benefit. Classes start from beginner level and progress through to intermediate and advanced over a period of months, therefore it is best to join a class that suits your current ability.

Fitness boxing  

If you are looking for a good full-body workout to improve fitness and flexibility, tone muscles and burn away those unwanted calories then this is the class for you. Fitness Boxing is based on exercises traditionally used in boxing training and is a great class for those wanting to combine exercise and fun. A guaranteed stress reliever!

Each 75-minute session generally includes warm-up, stretching and conditioning exercises for flexibility, boxing drills and pad work for cardiovascular fitness and co-ordination, followed by cool-down.

Our classes cater to all abilities allowing for experienced students to work at a higher level than those relatively new to the programme.

Alex your instructor, is a registered boxing coach of the Hong Kong Boxing Association, a kickboxing referee & judge for the association and started this programme very successfully in Sai Kung a few years ago.

Note: Boxing gloves and hand wraps are necessary for the pad work. Gloves will be provided for the class but personal hand wraps are needed for hygiene and these can be purchased from reception. Sports shoes with thin soles and comfortable clothing are recommended for this class.

Fitness THAI boxing

This is a high energy class that is not for the faint hearted! This 75 min session starts innocently enough with some stretching before moving on to some technique training with cardio moves. Then comes the full-on body-breaking section that will work you to the limits of your fitness, finally ending with a few more stretches to protect your muscles and ligaments (plus of course some lying on the floor and maybe some wimpering!) The results will speak for themselves after just a few classes, and if you are the kind of person who enjoys a vigorous workout then this is definitely the class for you.

Pilates is all about the control of your muscles, helping you to develop balance and flexibility. It focuses on strengthening your core muscles to help improve posture and straighten your spine, and is particularly helpful for people suffering from chronic back pain. Nocky will take you through a variety of controlled floor exercises to help you achieve the results you are looking for. If it’s a flat stomach and gently toned body you’re looking for, this could well be the form of exercise for you!

These are beginner level classes but can be adapted for those of you who have some previous experience.

YOGA 

Yoga is an ancient practice that first emerged in India at least five thousand years ago and has now become very popular throughout the world. Your instructors, Nocky & Catherine, use postures taken from Hatha yoga and add a fitness element, all of which aims to strengthen your body and improve your flexibility as well as concentration.This is not just about stretching your muscles; the idea is to improve the working of your internal body systems which in turn will mean that you will have more energy and your immune system will function more efficiently.

Each class can be adjusted to accommodate your fitness level and you will find it is an ideal form of exercise for all ages regardless of your current health status. If it is overall strength and flexibility as well as improved concentration you are looking for, these are the classes for you!
